Bat Removal in Morrisville, NC

Wedged between Research Triangle Park and RDU airport, Morrisville has more shared walls and commercial roofs than most Triangle towns.

A railroad stop that became a tech town

Morrisville was founded in 1852 and named for Jeremiah Morris, who gave land to the North Carolina Railroad. It was incorporated in 1875, lost its charter in 1933, and got it back in 1947. A Civil War skirmish was fought at Morrisville Station in April 1865, and the Morrisville Christian Church is on the National Register.

Today Morrisville sits between Research Triangle Park and Raleigh-Durham International Airport, home to Lenovo’s operational headquarters and a long list of tech and life-science employers. By 2020, 29,630 people lived here, and a big share of them live in townhomes, condos, and apartments.

Why Morrisville bat calls are different

Most bat calls in other towns come from single-family homeowners. In Morrisville, a lot of them come from property managers, HOA boards, apartment staff, and facilities teams. That changes the job in a few ways:

  • Shared attics and rooflines. A colony in one townhome can reach the attic space of the next unit.
  • Repeated construction details. Buildings from the same builder share the same soffit returns, dormer corners, and vents. A gap on one building is often on its neighbors.
  • More people to keep informed. Tenants, owners, boards, and managers all want to know what’s happening.
  • Commercial roofs. Office buildings and flex spaces near RTP have long fascia lines, parapets, and large vents.

Our pages on bat removal for property managers, condos, and HOAs and bat removal for offices and commercial buildings cover those jobs in depth.

Where bats get into Morrisville buildings

Most of the housing here is recent, so the openings are construction details rather than rot. On townhomes and condo buildings, we look closely at soffit returns at gable ends, dormer and bump-out corners, gable and ridge vents, roof-to-wall seams over garages and balconies, and siding transitions on tall front gables. On commercial buildings, add fascia bands, parapet caps, expansion joints, and ventilation louvers.

Lake Crabtree and the creek

Lake Crabtree County Park covers about 250 acres on the town’s northeast side, and Crabtree Creek Nature Park adds 37 more. Between the lake, the creek, and the wooded buffers between neighborhoods, there’s a lot of bat activity at dusk. That’s normal. A roost shows up as bats leaving a building from the same gap every night, droppings on a balcony or sidewalk, or a smell in a top-floor unit.

How we handle it

We inspect the whole building or row of buildings, seal the openings the bats aren’t using, put one-way exits on the ones they are, and close everything once the colony is out. Owners and managers get photos and a scope they can share. North Carolina doesn’t allow evictions from May 1 through July 31, and paid bat evictions have to be performed by a licensed Wildlife Control Agent. Exclusion work comes with a warranty.

Questions we hear a lot

Bats are in our townhome but the attic is shared. Who fixes it?

That depends on your association's documents. Roofs and exterior trim are often common elements. We'll inspect and describe where the openings are so the owners and the board can sort out responsibility.

Our office building has bats in a stairwell. Can you work around staff?

Yes. Exterior exclusion work rarely needs access inside, and we schedule around working hours.

Does the airport or RTP location change anything?

Not the method. It just means a lot of our Morrisville work is on managed properties and commercial buildings instead of single-family homes.

What customers say

I cannot thank Joe and his team (Chris, Forrest, Mike & Grayson) enough for the work they put in for a successful bat exclusion and bat bug remediation. I reached out in June for noises I was hearing in the ceiling of my home office. They inspected very quickly & identified bats... They were able to close any other entry points, Chris fixed our exhaust vents and they successfully excluded the bats. They did a great clean up job & treated for the bugs twice.

Mike from Integrated Wildlife Management came to my home recently to do an inspection of a bat colony that was roosting in one of our gable vents. He did a thorough inspection, pointed out some other entry points in our attic and gave a fair quote. He came back to do the removal and exclusion work this week and everything was done as promised. When I had a question about the warranty, Joe gave me a straightforward answer and addressed my concerns.

Had an unexpected bat in our fireplace on a Saturday night at 5:30pm and a quick search led me Joe and the Integrated team. They had the bat out of the fireplace by 8:30pm and came back for a full inspection the next day! I was very impressed with their quick reply during weekend hours and their professionalism to get the job done right!
